The government has announced the applications are open for the Medical Education stream of the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant to help more than 2,000 Ontario medical students studying to become family doctors and practice in the province. Supported by a $220 million investment, this program will cover the tuition, books and other educational costs of over 2,000 future family doctors who agree to practice anywhere in the province for a minimum of five years after completing their studies.
Since launching the Ontario Learn and Stay Grant in 2023, we’ve invested over $182 million to cover the cost of education for more than 13,300 future nurses, paramedics, and medical lab techs who agree to work in high need areas of the province after graduation.
By training more highly skilled doctors and health-care workers in the communities that need them most, we’re ensuring families across Ontario have access to convenient, connected care, close to home.
