Supporting Fire Rangers

The Ontario government has announced a $5 million recruitment and retention incentive for fire rangers in advance of the 2024 fire season.

In recognition of the critical services wildland fire rangers and pilots perform amid challenging and often dangerous conditions, the province is providing an incentive payment of $5,000 to those on the front lines.

Support staff will receive a one-time payment of $1,000.

We are also creating more than 100 year-round permanent positions for fire rangers and other staff.

Working as a fire ranger is a rewarding and challenging career. We are calling on Ontarians with a sense of adventure, the ability to work in challenging conditions and a call for public service to join our team.
