Reducing Inefficiencies Act

The government introduced Reducing Inefficiencies Act (Infrastructure Statute Law Amendments), 2023 that, if passed, would allow the province to improve the management of its real estate and bring critical efficiency to the environmental assessment process. These changes will drive forward our commitment to good governance, fiscal responsibility, and red tape reduction.

If passed, the proposed legislation would formalize an existing mechanism that waives the 30-day waiting period after a successful class environmental assessment has been fully completed and consulted on. Formalizing this ability means standard projects that occur across the province, like the creation of new municipal road or stormwater infrastructure, could be ready almost a month earlier than they were previously.
