Province Launches Largest Competitive Energy Procurement in Ontario History
The government is launching the largest competitive energy procurement in Ontario history.
Energy demand is rising sharply – Ontario forecasts energy consumption to increase by 60 per cent by 2050. Our government is launching the largest competitive energy procurement in the province’s history, focused on generating affordable electricity for families and businesses. This builds on our plan to procure up to 5,000 megawatts (MW) of energy through a series of procurements to help foster economic prosperity and meet the growing demand for clean and reliable energy.
Under Premier Ford, the government is putting communities in the driver’s seat, protecting farmland, and delivering affordable energy for future generations without saddling them with a punitive carbon tax.
