Ontario Welcomes $820 Million Investment in the Life Sciences Sector
The government joined AstraZeneca Canada to welcome a $820 million investment that will see the expansion of the company’s research and development facilities in Mississauga and create over 700 new, good-paying jobs.
The Mississauga facility is a strategic clinical hub for AstraZeneca, employing 1,500 people and leading more than 210 global clinical studies. With this investment, AstraZeneca will expand their operations to leverage digital health technologies, computational pathology and artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical trial designs to advance the quality of treatments for patients fighting against cancer, infectious and rare disease.
Ontario is supporting AstraZeneca Canada’s investment with $16.1 million through Invest Ontario’s Invest Ontario Fund.
