The government has announced the 18 successful projects through the recent intake of the Critical Minerals Innovation Fund (CMIF). As part of our government’s plan to protect Ontario and build a stronger, more competitive and self-reliant economy, these investments will strengthen made-in-Ontario supply chains, accelerate homegrown innovation and reduce reliance on foreign adversaries.
Following the release of Premier Ford’s Building Fortress North America, Ontario is taking decisive action to secure the critical minerals supply chain needed to power the economy of the future. Together, these projects are expected to leverage $12.3 million in private-sector funding to accelerate the research, development and commercialization of made-in-Ontario technologies, helping ensure that critical minerals mined in Ontario are processed and refined in Ontario-by-Ontario workers.
Our government has a plan to protect Ontario by attracting investment, securing critical mineral supply chains and positioning Ontario as the most competitive jurisdiction in the G7 for critical mineral development, while creating jobs and keeping more value-added opportunities here at home.
