Ontario Securing Affordable Energy for Future Generations
June 3, 2025
the government will introduce the Protect Ontario by Securing Affordable Energy for Generations Act — forward-looking legislation that will, if passed, secure Ontario’s energy future by building the infrastructure required to meet surging electricity demand without relying on other jurisdictions while keeping energy affordable and powering long-term economic growth.
Electricity demand is projected to rise by 75% by 2050 — the equivalent of adding 4.5 cities the size of Toronto to Ontario’s grid.
With President Trump’s attack on Canada’s economy, now is exactly the time to prioritize:
- “Buying Canadian” across the energy system
- Making “economic growth” a core mandate of energy planning
- Protecting Ontario’s power by managing data center connections to the grid
Our government is delivering a made-in-Ontario energy plan that protects workers and the economy by strengthening grid security, supporting local utilities and workers and putting Ontario families and businesses first.
