Ontario Secures New Investment and 250 New Jobs in the Life Sciences Sector
The government welcomed the $130 million expansion of Hoffman-La Roche Limited’s (Roche Canada) Global Informatics division, at the company’s Mississauga headquarters. The Hub will create up to 250 new, good-paying technical jobs and accelerate Swiss-based Roche’s global manufacturing and supply chain operations, including monitoring safety, quality control, and the distribution of pharmaceutical products shipped around the world.
Additionally, this new facility will help enable the growth and expansion of Ontario’s health data ecosystem in areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational biology, and data analytics. Roche’s investment will also leverage Ontario’s competitive advantage in artificial intelligence, a sector which employs 80,000 workers at 400 AI firms.
Ontario is supporting Roche’s Global Informatics Hub with $3.5 million through Invest Ontario’s Invest Ontario Fund.
