Ontario Lowering Minimum Age Requirement to be a Lifeguard
To help communities to address staffing shortages and make sure pools and beaches across the province can be enjoyed safely, our government is lowering the minimum age requirement to be a lifeguard and swim instructor from 16 to 15 years of age.
This change comes into effect today and aligns with the minimum age requirements established by National Lifesaving Society’s certification course.
