August 11, 2025
Ontario has announced an investment of $7.7 million to launch the Indian Residential School Community Engagement Fund (IRSCEF) for Indigenous communities and organizations as they provide support for Residential School Survivors and those impacted by ongoing burial investigations.
The government continues to work alongside Indigenous partners and is committed to making investments that are responsive to Survivors, families, and communities. The IRSCEF is part of the $32.1 million included in our 2025 Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario to support burial investigations at former Indian Residential Schools.
Funding will support community-driven survivor engagement, mental health and wellness supports, public education and awareness, commemorative initiatives, and research activities to connect community members with ongoing investigations. Applications can be submitted through the Transfer Payment Ontario website until September 8, 2025.
