Ontario Fast-Tracks First Project Under New ‘One Project, One Process’

October 29, 2025

The government has announced Frontier Lithium’s world-class PAK Lithium Project near Red Lake, is the first to move forward under Ontario’s ‘One Project, One Process’ (1P1P) framework.

Just under two weeks after 1P1P came into effect, this milestone marks a key step in the government’s plan to build mines faster, attract investment, and strengthen Ontario’s position as a North American leader in critical minerals. The PAK Project represents Ontario’s first lithium project and the first-of-its-kind in Canada, featuring a fully integrated lithium mine and processing operation that will help anchor a made-in-Ontario critical minerals supply chain.

In addition, Ontario is proposing $830 million of new transmission upgrades in the Red Lake region, including a new 230-kilovolt transmission line – a generational investment to power the next wave of northern growth. Delivering 450 megawatts of new clean energy capacity, this line will energize major mining projects, unlock new housing and economic opportunities, and support good jobs across Northern Ontario.
