Ontario Energy Expansion Fuels $30 Million Hitachi Energy Investment
December 15, 2025
The Ontario government has welcomed a $30 million investment from Hitachi Energy to upgrade and expand its newly purchased facility in Stoney Creek. This investment will support 185 good-paying jobs, including 155 existing jobs and 30 new jobs, while strengthening Ontario’s Canadian-made energy supply chain.
This facility is Canada’s only site dedicated to upgrading and extending the life of medium and large power transformers up to 765 kilovolts, equipment that is critical to delivering reliable electricity for Ontario families and businesses. Hitachi Energy will also acquire a new service facility in Cambridge, which will serve as the national hub for Hitachi Energy’s Field Service operations, enabling rapid on-site support for utilities and industrial customers.
As Ontario leads the largest energy expansion on the continent, this investment shows how Energy for Generations and Ontario’s energy buildout is driving manufacturing growth while ensuring the infrastructure that powers the most competitive economy in the G7 is built, serviced and maintained here at home.
