The government is providing funding to build thousands of new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Ontario through the EV ChargeON program. The funding is part of the province’s $91 million investment to support the uptake of electric vehicles in Ontario, and willhelp get more EV drivers on the road by making it easier and more convenient to charge up outside of large urban centres.
Starting today, the province is accepting applications to build more EV chargers in communities with less than 170,000 people, as well as any Indigenous community in Ontario. As part of the program, we will also help build moreEV chargers on government-owned land, including Ontario’s highway rest areas, carpool parking lots and tourist destinations such as Ontario Parks.
