Ontario Accelerating Boosters for Education and Child Care Staff
Minister Lecce announced that the government is bolstering safety in schools and child care centers further by accelerating COVID-19 boosters access for education and child care staff as we look towards returning in-person learning this winter.
Starting January 7, to provide faster access to vaccines, child care, and education staff, including educators, janitors, administrative staff, and school bus drivers, will be able to make a priority appointment at the provincial mass immunization clinic located at the Mississauga International Centre. It will be open seven days a week, and the 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. time slots will be reserved for appointments for education and child care staff. Eligible staff is encouraged to book their appointment through the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900.
The province is working with other public health units to quickly establish additional immunization clinics across Ontario to ensure access to third doses for education and child care staff living outside the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
To support Ontario families during this time — including hard-working nurses, PSWs, grocery clerks, staff working in Children’s Aid Societies, Canadian Armed Forces, and many others, we are once again providing free emergency child care for children of frontline health and safety workers. To confirm whether or not a family is eligible for access to emergency child care, please contact your local service system manager. See a full list of eligible workers.
