NOSI Consultation
The government is working hard to ensure bad actors don’t take advantage of hardworking Ontarians through unfair business practices.
That is why we continue to review the Consumer Protection Act to address the fraudulent use of Notices of Security Interests (NOSIs). NOSIs are a claim to assets or equipment on a property such as an HVAC system that is rented, financed or leased to a homeowner. NOSI’s have been used in recent years by bad actors to exploit homeowners for their own financial gain.
The province is launching consultations on ways to further protect property owners from Notices of Security Interests and we are seeking public feedback up until December 1, 2023 through Ontario’s Regulatory Registry.
