New Canada/Ontario Health Care Agreement

Ontario and the Government of Canada signed a new $3.1 billion agreement that will support the progress Ontario is making with our Your Health plan to increase access to primary care, reduce wait times, and help grow our health care workforce for generations to come.

This funding will be used to:

  • Create new primary care teams
  • Add hundreds of new family physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses
  • Expand enrollment in health care education programs by over 700 spots – including over 70 in Northern Ontario
  • Support programs that help students with tuition fees
  • Make it easier for internationally educated doctors and health professionals to practise in Ontario
  • Modernize digital infrastructure
  • Make it faster to connect to mental health and addictions services
