National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day

September 30th marks Ontario’s fourth observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a day to pause, listen to Indigenous voices, and reflect on the painful legacy of Indian Residential Schools that still exists today. It is also Orange Shirt Day, inspired by Indian Residential School Survivor Phyllis Webstad.

Additionally, it is an important opportunity to acknowledge the difficult and traumatic work of Indigenous communities that are leading the investigation and commemoration of Indian Residential School sites across Canada.

Show your support on September 30th by wearing an orange shirt from an Indigenous vendor or organization, listening and amplifying Indigenous voices, and learning from the survivors, their families, and their communities.
