Launch of Operation Deterrence

The government has announced the launch of “Operation Deterrence,” the province’s preparedness and planning framework for enhanced security at international borders and tackling criminal activity that is harming people on both sides of the border.

As part of Operation Deterrence, the OPP has an emergency response team of 200 officers that, along with frontline and specialty resources such as officers, have been and will continue to be engaged to enhance border security.

In partnership with the RCMP, Operation Deterrence will be enhanced through additional speciality resources, including canine units, aircraft and maritime vessels.
