Keeping Electricity Costs Down

The government is taking steps to keep electricity costs down for families and small businesses including increasing the on-bill Ontario Electricity Rebate from 11.7 per cent to 19.3 per cent. This increase means a typical household’s electricity bills will be reduced by about $26 a month – or $312 a year. Further Ontario is supporting thousands of additional low-income families with an additional $50 million investment in the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP).  The government’s increased investment in the low-income targeted OESP, will support a significant expansion to the program, increasing the income eligibility thresholds for the program by up to 35 per cent.
