Grad Tech Ed Requirement

Stephen Lecce, Minister of Education, was joined by Mathew Rae, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education and Charmaine Williams, Associate Minister of Women’s Social and Economic Opportunity, to announce the government’s implementation of a new, mandatory, technological education credit requirement for graduation to help better prepare students across our province for the jobs of tomorrow.

Beginning in 2024, this new graduation requirement is another step forward ensuring students learn the critical skills necessary to succeed.

This builds on Premier Ford and Minister Lecce’s recent announcement to create a direct path from grade 11 into apprenticeship – creating an accelerated pathway to a good paying job. The government is working to ensure Ontario students graduate with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. This will also help to ensure that Ontario remains a leader in innovation and technology for years to come.
