Diversifying Ontario’s Trade to Support Workers

Today is the first-ever Canada Investment Summit, bringing together the world’s largest investors, including CEOs entrepreneurs, prominent global business leaders.

As we continue to fight back against President Trump’s economic attacks, our government is diversifying Ontario’s trade partnerships with non-U.S. partners and ramping up exports to new jurisdictions across the world. Since 2018, Ontario’s non-U.S. exports have grown nearly 75% due to free trade market access with over 50 countries and significant growth in two-way trade with jurisdictions across the world, including a 120% increase in trade between Ontario and the ASEAN region, 96% with Poland, as well as 94% trade growth with South Korea and 88% with India.

We will continue building the most competitive economy in the G7 to secure job-creating investments, while reducing over-reliance on a single market to protect Ontario workers and businesses against whatever comes our way.
