Creating Jobs With Nuclear Energy

The government has announced the start of construction on the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station refurbishment — another major milestone in our government’s plan to build Ontario’s nuclear sector and secure our province’s energy and economic future.

Ontario has a world-leading nuclear advantage, and our government is turning that advantage into a generational economic opportunity that will create 150,000 jobs and add ¾ of a trillion dollars to our economy. We are investing in the reactors, workers, made-in-Canada supply chain and infrastructure needed to grow Ontario’s nuclear industry and position the province to meet rising electricity demand for decades to come.

At a time of global economic uncertainty, our government is choosing to build: building nuclear, building Ontario’s industrial capacity and building the reliable, affordable and clean energy needed to power homes, businesses and the next generation of economic growth.
